Materials maker Ampacet Corp. has opened a new production plant in Brembate, Italy.

In a news release, officials with Ampacet in Tarrytown, N.Y, said that the new plant was opened in response to increased product demand. The new site doubles additive capacity and all lines are up and running, they added.

"This new site…will further improve the service provided to our customers by speeding up the innovation process, thus helping to bring products to market more quickly," Europe managing director Marcello Bergamo said.

He added that the plant has been designed for minimal environmental impact and will offer customers sustainable solutions, helping to meet industry requirements and circular economy initiatives.

Earlier this year, Ampacet's Ampacet LIAD unit launched Spectro 4.0 Smart Technologies, a lineup of continuous in-line solutions for color management. The first application of the technology is a color management system — including an in-line spectrophotometer — for finished parts.

In late 2021, Ampacet doubled production capacity for masterbatch color concentrates at its plant in Dudelange, Luxembourg. The firm invested about $45 million in a new facility in Dudelange for its European headquarters and a new R&D lab.

Ampacet is one of North America's 30 largest compounders and concentrate makers. The firm employs more than 2,000 at 25 manufacturing sites worldwide and has annual sales of more than $1 billion.
